DANNY GONZALERZ

SAXOPHONE i PIANO

Danny is a born and raised San Diego native, with 13 years of saxophone practice and performance, as well as 8 years of piano and music theory training. While studying classical saxophone at Vista high school, the VHS wind symphony was awarded the gold medal, and a score of 98 out of 100, at the International Festival of Music, hosted at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Upon graduating from Vista High, Danny was hired by the school to be the coach for the saxophone section for 3 marching band seasons. Since then, several years of teaching privately, as well as in music studios, have been added to his resume.

After High School, Danny's studies shifted from classical saxophone, to an emphasis in Jazz and Commercial music, and he has since developed a deeper love and understanding for the saxophone. With the help of professors from Palomar College, and Mira Costa College, he was able to pursue a career as a professional performing musician, and has played at several local venues, among the more notable venues are The Music Box, and The Belly Up tavern.

In addition to teaching saxophone and piano, Danny thrives as a teacher of music theory, song writing and improvisation. When looking at music through the lense of improvisation, he feels that music can be not only a language, but also like life, unscripted and spontaneous.
