PRIVATE MUSIC LESSONS
What kind of private music lessons do you teach at Kalabash?
We offer private music lessons in Piano, Voice, Guitar, Drums, Violin, Viola, Beginning Cello, Saxophone, Clarinet, Percussion as well as composition, songwriting and recording arts.
How long are the lessons and how often?
Our private music lessons are either 30 min, 45 min or 60 minutes long. For steady progress and growth we recommend weekly lessons by reserving a day and time that works best for you and our teacher’s availability.
What ages do you teach?
We welcome a wide range of ages at Kalabash, from 4 years old to seniors.
What are your rates?
Our drop in rates for private music lessons are as follows:
30 min - $40
45 min - $55
60 min - $70
We also offer a monthly membership to students who take weekly lessons at a discounted rate. Membership rates are:
WEEKLY 30 MIN PRIVATE LESSON ($150 A MONTH)
WEEKLY 45 MIN PRIVATE LESSON ($210 A MONTH)
WEEKLY 60 MIN PRIVATE LESSON ($270 A MONTH)
Do you offer discounts if I take more than one private lesson a week, like guitar AND piano?
No we do not. However we recommend getting on a membership to receive our discounted rates.
Why? Because you will need different teachers depending on what you are taking.
Do you offer family or sibling discounts?
Yes, we offer a 5% discount to the sibling or family member with the lesser membership/lesson type. For Example: Child A takes a 45 min class and Child B takes a 30 min class. Child B would receive the 5% discount.
What are the benefits of becoming a member?
UNLIMITED WEEKLY PRIVATE LESSONS A YEAR
Your monthly membership payment is based on the type of classes/lessons that you are enrolled in. Reserve your lesson day and time indefinitely with your first membership payment and receive unlimited weekly lessons per year. This allows plenty of flexibility for holidays, summer vacations, and the occasional illness or conflict, while still maintaining a consistent lesson schedule optimal for steady progress.SUMMER CAMP + GROUP CLASSES
Depending on the event, all members will receive up to 10% off selected group classes and summer camps! Songwriting and Recording, Group Ensembles, Comic Book Club, Music Technology, Arts + Crafts and World Music Exploration are all examples of the awesome classes and workshops members will be able to take part in at a discounted rate.SPECIAL MONTHLY EVENTS
Depending on the event, admission will be free or up to 20% off for all members and their family. Concert series, open mics, lectures, family movie nights and different community events are all examples of the special monthly happenings we will be hosting!PRIVATE EVENT OR BIRTHDAY PARTIES
Enjoy the use of our facilities and expert staff for your own private event or birthday party! Members receive 10% off the private event of your choosing. (Schedule early! Subject to studio and teacher availability.)
What is your cancellation and make up policy for private lessons?
For last minute cancellations made the day of or the day before your lesson (within 48 hours), you will not be refunded or credited for the missed lesson and rescheduling will be based on teacher's and school's discretion.
For cancellations made 2 or more days in advance, we can schedule a make-up lesson either 2 weeks before or after the missed lesson.
What’s the latest I can notify you for an advance cancellation?
The latest we can be notified by email is the end of the day that is two days before the class day (e.g. the midnight between Tuesday and Wednesday for a Thursday lesson).
Email is the preferred method of notification as we can access it at any time.
The latest we can be notified by phone or in person is 6 PM two days before the class day (e.g. 6pm on Tuesday for a Thursday lesson).
These deadlines are so that we have an adequate chance to notify your teacher.
What if my teacher has to cancel?
If a teacher needs to cancel a lesson for any reason, you will be offered a substitute teacher during your regular lesson time if possible or you'll be offered an opportunity to reschedule. If neither of these options work, you will be eligible for a credit towards your next payment.
MUSIC WORKSHOPS
Do you offer group classes for toddlers?
We do not typically offer group classes for children younger than 5 years old. The youngest age we have in our private music classes are usually 4 or 5, depending on the student. For toddler or early childhood music classes we recommend our neighbor Nightingale Music down the street!
What group music classes do you offer?
Throughout the year we offer different workshops in songwriting, recording and various other musical genres. Please check out our website for the latest offerings!
ART CLASSES
Do you teach group art classes?
Yes, we have a variety of art classes for kids, teens and adults in various mediums like drawing, painting, crafts and comic book art. Please refer to the art classes page for detailed information.
I’m interested in private art classes. Do you offer these and how long and how much are they?
Yes we offer 60 min or 90 min private art classes depending on our teachers availability. The rates are as follows:
60 min private Art class - $65
90 min private Art class - $90
