Children of ages 5 to 10 years old will experience a variety of Brazilian rhythms, dances and stories in a very interactive and kinesthetic way. Through dynamic activities including drums, body percussion, dance movements and Portuguese language, they will developed an understanding of cultural heritage and explore their musical, social, physical, language and cognitive skills.
Rhythms and Dance for kids will run as an 8 week session starting February 6th. Students are welcome to join at any time during the 8 weeks but we strongly recommend that students join at the beginning to experience the program in its entirety.
The curriculum was developed by Claudia Lyra, an expressive arts specialist and artistic director of the Brazilian education and performance group, Nós de Chita. Claudia has a BA in Psychology and is currently enrolled in the Bilingual Education Masters Program at SDSU.
