About the artists:

Miles

Miles Shrewsbery (Tabla)

Miles Shrewsbery is a tabla artist and percussionist based in Southern CA.  A disciple of Sri Abhiman Kaushal and Pandit Nandkumar Bhatlouande of Hyderabad, India, Miles is trained in the Farukhabad Gharana of his teachers and is a respected performer of its rich, aesthetic repertoire through his years of dedicated study and practice. Miles has performed all over the world in prestigious venues such as the Symphony Space (New York City), Smithsonian Museum (Washington D.C.), Tokyo Museum of Modern Art (Tokyo, Japan), Royal Horticultural Hall (London, England), and St. Paul Cathedral (New York City). He has performed with top musicians such as Shujaat Khan, Deepak Ram, Googoosh, Cheap Trick, and Yusef Lateef.  In 2004, Miles earned a B.A. in ethnomusicology from UCLA, and in 2009, he earned an M.A. in ethnomusicology from UCR.  In 2012 Miles was awarded the American Institute of Indian Studies’ Senior Performing Arts Fellowship, which supported Miles to further his studies and practice in New Delhi, India for one year.  Currently, Miles is an artist-teacher in residence for the Center For World Music in San Diego, CA.

Aditya

Aditya Sharma (Vocalist)

Aditya Sharma is a Classically trained vocalist and teacher in the Hindustani music tradition of Northern India. A Ph.D in Voice Cultivation, he has been a disciple of the renowned maestro Padmashree Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar since 2007. 

n 2007, he was selected by the prestigious ITC- Sangeet Research Academy in Kolkata to be one of it's few residential scholars. It was here that he began his advanced training under the tutelage of Padmashree Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar, one of India’s leading classical vocalist of this generation. Aditya continues to receive training from this legendary maestro.

Aditya has been teaching vocal music since many years at Gandharv Mahavidyalaya, but his professional teaching career began when he was appointed as the vocal music teacher at the prestigious The Doon School in Dehradun. He continues to perform on All India Radio and at other prominent venues. In 2013 he completed his first concert tour in USA. Recently, in November 2014, Aditya received the "Kala Gaurav Samman" or recognition and award for excellence in vocal arts by "Sanskar Bharti", Haryana. In 2015, he was also awarded Ph.D in Music on "Voice Cultivation in Hindustani Classical and Western Music. A comparative study" from Panjab University, Chandigarh.
 
Aditya is currently based in San Diego California, where he will be a Hindustani music teacher and advisor for Sangita Yoga, an organization dedicated to the sacred music traditions of India. He will also be performing in several US cities.
