THE SONGBIRD LABEL

A CLUB . A CAMP . A COLLECTIVE

Founded by Kalabash co-owners Natasha Kozaily of NATULA and music producer Chad Farran, the Songbird Label seeks to be a supportive and educational opportunity for kids and teens to write, record and release their original music, learn about the music industry and explore their individual talents and dreams. What started as a passion between two artists and friends has evolved into a monthly club, workshop, summer camp and full blown label created for young artists at Kalabash School of Music + the Arts.

CREATE

You don't need to have any musical experience to be a Songbird, only passion and creativity. At the Songbird Label workshops and summer camps, students discover tools and techniques to write songs both solo and in duo/group settings.  At Kalabash we have an array of instruments and studio space to create as much or as little sound as necessary, including our electronic playground filled with synths, drum machines and more.

RECORD

Writing a song is only the first step.  The next step is arranging, recording, mixing and mastering.  Songbirds work in small groups to produce each others original material in our recording studio with our sound engineer using the latest industry programs and high quality gear.  Once their song is recorded and the art work is created, we release the tracks into the world via a compilation album.

RELEASE

The reason we call it the Songbird label is because we aim to teach students not just how to write and record a song but also how to release it, promote it and navigate the ever changing music industry. At the end of each session we release a compilation album of all the Songbird originals and celebrate with an album release party where students have the opportunity to share and perform their creations.

LUNCH DATES

Not only do we listen and discover yummy vinyl records and dive into some not so distant music history, Songbirds have the unique opportunity to interview guest artists and speakers from the music industry during our popular lunch dates!
